Boy Scouts of America Prepared for Life

BSA Troop 218

BSA Troop 218 offers a year-round adventure-based program designed to offer and encourage effective character, citizenship, and fitness training for boys and girls age 11-17.

In addition to camping, Scouts and adult leaders enjoy activities such as hiking, canoeing, fishing, target-shooting, and more while accommodating the needs of today’s busy families.

Scout Meetings are held every Monday Evening at 7:00 pm at United Covenant Methodist Church at 15515 Gleneden, Spokane, WA.

Our Troop’s History

Our troop was founded in 1986 and is sponsored by United Covenant Methodist Church.  Our Troop has enjoyed serving our sponsoring church by providing the Easter Vigil fire, Trunk R Treating booths, and more.   Since the Troop was charted we have had 58 Scouts achieve the rank of Eagle. Our Eagle projects have helped local schools, churches, charities as well as state and federal parks.

Scouting Events

Our most recent summers have taken us canoeing on the upper reaches of the Missouri River, mountain climbing in the Selkirk Mountains, and week-long camps in Washington, Oregon, Idaho, and Montana.  Every year we try to squeeze in caving, biking, hiking, canoeing, rock climbing, wilderness survival camping, outdoor cooking competitions, rifle and shotgun shooting events, and our annual Fish-O-Rama.

Merit Badges

Merit badges are awards earned by youth members of the Boy Scouts of America (BSA), based on activities within an area of study by completing a list of periodically updated requirements. The purpose of the merit badge program is to allow Scouts to examine subjects to determine if they would like to further pursue them as a career or a vocation or develop skills in lifelong pursuits.
